How to find the work you love

Finding and doing the work you love is about giving yourself the permission to be fully who you are, love what you love doing, have the talents that you naturally have, and using them. There is nothing to look for outside of yourself to complete who you are. You already have all the seeds and gifts you need in you. The hardest, yet simple, path is to see, acknowledge, and fully embrace these gifts. This is what you came to earth to do. The world needs you as you are, not as somebody else.

Dealing with challenges

“Life is difficult.
This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths. It is a great truth because one we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult -once we truly understand and accept it – then life is no longer difficult.” – M.Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled
The more we fight against the challenges and difficult emotions we encounter, the more difficult they appear. The more we surrender to them and let them be without fighting, the easier life seems. Whatever our life looks like, we are going to encounter challenges that will trigger difficult emotions (grief, sadness, disappointment, etc), It is inevitable. It’s part of the human experience. Knowing that this is going to happen, shall we fight this reality, causing more pain by doing so, or surrender to it, like you surrender to the waves of the Ocean when you are on a boat, sailing?
What are the emotions or challenges you are fighting right now? What are you are trying to make disappear? Imagine you are on a boat and these emotions are waves, intense waves. How can you be with the waves without fighting them? Sailing along.

Acknowledge where you are

10 years ago I had a dream of becoming fully bilingual in French/English. As I’m listening to a training call in English right now and taking notes, I’m realizing my dream is now a reality! English is 100% part of my personal and professional life, without even me paying attention to it. What are things that you wanted to achieve 5 or 10 years ago and that are now fully part of your life?

Take the time to pause, inquire, and acknowledge yourself. We tend to focus so much on the things we haven’t done, that we forget to look at the things we have actually achieved.

Pause, be curious, and acknowledge yourself for where you are now. I’m sure there is a lot you have done that you take for granted.

By some interesting twist, we tend to take for granted our successes (and minimize them) and put all our attention on what we haven’t done yet. By doing that, we increase our feeling of unsatisfaction. We have a bias toward the negative. We can change that!

Our worst enemy is inside

Our worst enemy is not outside ourselves, but inside. Every time we judge or blame ourself, buy other people’s judgements about ourselves, wish we were different than who we are, put unrealistic demands on ourselves and blame ourselves for not fulfilling them, or let others put unrealistic demands on ourselves, we act as our very own enemy.

Don’t give up on your dreams

Please do me a favor: don’t give up on your dreams.

Really, I mean it.

I know from the bottom of my heart and from my very own personal experience, right at this moment, that it is possible to make them happen. And even the craziest of your dreams. Really. I mean it. I’m walking the path right now as I’m writing to you, at this exact moment. I’m realizing a dream I never thought possible: doing the most meaningful work I could imagine doing. Eight years ago, I started dreaming of coaching and inspiring people to stay true to themselves, their callings, passions, dreams, and realize the life they really want. And this is happening. Now in my life. This has been a rocky road to get there and it is still unfolding and in process, but it is happening. Dreams don’t happen in a day, especially the biggest ones, but if you keep cultivating them and keep working at them, they will happen. It may take time, but they will happen.

So, please please don’t give on them! I know your dreams are beautiful and I know the world needs them. The world needs you and your dreams alive.
