STOP wasting your life!! What staying in work you hate is TRULY costing you

Are you (or someone you know) staying in work you hate out of fear of losing your lifestyleyour benefitsyour income level?

….or not being able to pay for your mortgage, your student loan, or retirement if you change careers?

If so, listen up! this article is for you.
(or for people you know who are struggling with this. Feel free to pass it along.)

After interviewing, over the past 5 years, hundreds of people unhappy in their careers, this is the #1 concern I’m hearing from people who are considering changing careers.

  • “I hate my job but I’ve such a good salary and benefits; I’m afraid I’ll lose that if I change careers.”
  • “The life in [location] is so expensive; I don’t know how I’ll pay my mortgage if I leave my job.”
  • “I’m concerned I’ll have to start all over again, at a lower level.”

I get it.The fear of losing the financial security can be intense and I’m not discounting it.

But, let me ask you this,Have you ever thought about what staying in work you hate day after day, and year after year is COSTING you?

Well, let me tell you what I’ve heard hundreds of people unhappy in their work tell me over and over.

It is costing:

  • your happiness and fulfillment. You spend more time at work than in any other areas of your life. Think about hating 5 out of 7 days of each week for the rest of your life. Is that truly living?
  • your self-esteem and your confidence. Every single person I talk to tells me how they are doubting themselves and their abilities. This is what spending years in work that is not a fit does to you. It erodes your confidence. The more you stay, the more you doubt yourself and the harder it is to find the confidence to get out and explore other jobs or careers. You get stuck in a vicious cycle.
  • your emotional and mental health. Forcing yourself to stay in work you hate is harmful to your mental health and can lead to depression. I’ve heard people telling me they often feel depressed.
  • your physical health. Staying in work you hate is draining for your body. If you consistently feel drained after work, it is taking a toll on your health. What about the sleepless nights and all the physical symptoms and illnesses, mild or severe, you start developing as a result?
  • your romantic relationship. Your unhappiness and stress do not stay at work. Whether you want it or not, you bring them back home in your relationship. How does you complaining day after day about your work affect your relationship?
  • your friendships and your social life. I’ve heard many people telling me how it impacts negatively their social life. They may be too drained to meet their friends or pursue their hobbies. Or they bring their negativity in their friendships.
  • the happiness and development of your children. Imagine the impact (short and long term) on your children, of unhappy, stressed, emotionally and physically unavailable parents? What are you modeling to them? If you are unhappy in your work, how can they know that it is possible to be happy at work.
  • and more!

Here is the TRUTH:

Staying in work you hate is costing you not only your happiness, but also the happiness of your loved ones

  • How worth it it is to have all the money you want IF your life, your health, your relationships are destroyed or eroded as a result?
  • How worth it it is to have all the money you want to retire IF you end your life with excruciating regrets?

*** In her book “The Top Five Regrets of The Dying,” Bronnie Ware, a palliative nurse shares the most common regrets of the dying she heard in her practice.
The #1 is: “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.” “When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honored even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. “

Here is another TRUTH:

In the long run, it is COSTING YOU WAY MORE to stay in work you hate than to explore something else.

IT IS WASTING YOUR LIFE AND YOUR HEALTH.

I get it that it can be scary to consider changing careers.

But it does not necessarily have to be.

It is why I created a step-by-step process to make it as progressive and supportive as possible, so that you don’t feel like you have to jump off a cliff and risk everything.

  1. First, we clarify your unique talents, drivers of satisfaction, and passions so that you can build clarity, confidence, and a strong inner compass for your next steps.
  2. Then, we identify the career that is uniquely tailored to you, your talents, and purpose, so that you have a clear direction and you never again doubt the direction of your career.
  3. Finally, we create a personalized action plan so that you know exactly what steps to take to create the career you love. I support you in designing an action plan that is progressive and respects your own pace.

You don’t necessarily have to leave your job or career right away. Actually, most of my clients don’t and take a step-by-step approach that feels right for them.

But once you are clear and confident about what you ultimately want, it is way easier to consider the different paths and progressive steps to get where you want to be without sacrificing your sanity and your financial foundations.

From that place of clarity and confidence, you will see that you have WAY more options than you think, and that you don’t have to jump off the cliff.

This is what I focus on in the program that I open twice a year.

Watch the video to find out about this childhood dream coming true.

…and read below why this matters to you.

Are they things you have been wanted to do for a long time and you keep saying “someday, I’ll do that”  or “someday, I’ll go there,” or “someday, [fill in the blank]?

How long have you been saying that?
How long have you been waiting?

1, 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years?

Until when are you going to postpone this?

Be honest with yourself.

Time flies by, and until you know it, there will be no time left.

The time is NOW, not someday.

Someday often never comes unless we do something about it.

Go and take a step!

Your 90-year-old self will thank you for it.

LIVE from Sedona, Arizona (pics)… I’ve a message for you

LIVE from Sedona, Arizona (pics)… I’ve a message for you

Hi!

I am currently in Sedona, Arizona. I just attended a 3-day EPIC transformational retreat with other Visionary women and business owners to amplify my service to my clients, my community (you!), and the world.

This is me at Cathedral Rock, after an epic photoshoot.

I had a blast and I feel so inspired.

This morning, I woke up early with a strong inspiration to write. I received a message for you that I needed to share. Half-awake, I sat at my laptop and wrote.

Here is my message for you.

It starts with two questions

Who were you before being conditioned by your family and society?
Who are YOU without all the layers of conditioning you took on as you grew up?

Doing the work you love lies in the answers to these questions.

I guarantee it.

Oh, maybe, you think you did not get conditioned? or you don’t know what I am talking about?

Most of us carry so many layers of conditioning that cloud the truth of who we are. I’ve seen it in myself and I see it in ALL the clients I’ve worked with.
Every single time.
With NO exceptions.

And we wonder why we are unfulfilled and unhappy in our lives and work.

We are living somebody else’s life.
Somebody else’s values.
Somebody else’s notion of success.
Somebody else’s worldview.
Somebody else’s…. [fill in the blank]

From that place, how can you do the Work you love? How can you live the life you want?

You CAN’T.

Why?

Well, imagine… being stuck in someone’s else notion of what fulfillment means.

How can YOU be fulfilled?

You simply cannot. It is impossible.

and sadly, this is the way most people on the planet are living their lives.

If you are still doubting, let me give you some examples of clients.

  • He has been an engineer for all his life. He is in his late 40s. He was bored and unfulfilled in his work when he started working with me. Through our work together, he realized that when he was a kid, he loved drawing and building things with his hands. He is also naturally very intuitive and connected to the unseen. But his dad valued engineering and encouraged him to follow that path. So, he lost touch with his true nature as a builder, artist, and an intuitive person. He lost touch with what makes him alive and happy.

  • Her parents’ notion of success is to have letters after their name (PhD, MD, etc). Unconsciously, to be loved by her parents as a kid, she took on this idea that to be successful and happy in her work, she needed status and to have letters after her name. But this is incongruent with what she loves and what makes her fulfilled. So, she was struggling to find her own path, being unconsciously influenced by this old programming.

I’ve seen it in myself too.

  • I am an avid world traveler. This is part of who I am. I am a citizen of the world. But part of my family has different values and worldview. They value staying and living close to family. Unconsciously, to be loved by them, I shrank down that part of me who loves traveling the world.

What is arising for you right now?

Listen.

If you were not trying to please family and society, what would you do?
Who would you be?
How would you live your life?

Truly listen.

The voice of your true self may be very quiet, especially if it has been buried for a long time, as for a lot of my clients.

You may not even hear it.

It DOES NOT mean it’s not there.

If you are having a hard time hearing it and and need help uncovering it, I would be delighted to support you. Or If you know someone that can benefit from this message, please forward it to them.

This is one of the things I am the best at and the work I LOVE doing with my clients.

(VIDEO) Is THIS stopping you from going after what you want?

Is there something you have wanted for a LONG time and have not acted on it yet?  whether it’s finding the Career you love or something else in your life.

If so, what is truly stopping you from going after it?

My recent trip to Scotland and my firsthand experience going for my dreams –living in 5 different countries, becoming bilingual, working for one of the biggest Internet company in the world, and changing careers to pursue my passion– has showed me that there is a major reason why so many people don’t go for what they want and have regrets at the end of their lives.

Watch the video below to hear what it is and how to avoid it.

To you living the career and life of your dreams!

Isabelle

I’m back from Scotland (VIDEO + Pics) and here is what I learned

I’m back from Scotland (VIDEO + Pics) and here is what I learned

I am back from Scotland and it was an experience out of this world!

Truly. The best trip I’ve ever experienced.

I’m not exaggerating.

Everything I LOVE was “packaged” in one trip. It was bliss after bliss.

My passion for Harry Potter. I took the Hogwarts Express!! (aka The Jacobite train in the Highlands)

My love for beautiful sceneries by the Ocean and Lochs. Here on the Isle of Skye.

My passion for the series Outlander. I went to some magical places where the show was filmed.

And much more! These are only a few of the hundreds pictures I took.

When I think about how much I resisted the decision to go to Scotland in the first place and how scared I was to make it, I am blown away by the contrast between my fears and the reality of what happened.

None of my fears came to pass. NONE.

And you know what?

If I did not allow myself to move past these fears, I would not have experienced the magic of this trip and all the amazing learnings I gained from it.

This trip changed me and changed my perspective on my life.

So, I thought about you all…

…and of all the dreams and desires you may prevent yourself from having because you are scared or you think they are unreasonable.

I made this video with you in mind, to help you move past your fears and go for your dreams, whether they are doing the work you love or something else.

(Note: It was originally recorded as a Facebook Live.)

I’d love to hear what you are discovering as you are watching this video.

How Harry Potter can help you go for your dream career…(Pics from Universal Studios in Hollywood)

How Harry Potter can help you go for your dream career…(Pics from Universal Studios in Hollywood)

Last weekend, I experienced  “Harry Potter bliss.”

Yes, I did. 🙂

I went to Los Angeles for the Harry Potter Bachelorette Party of my friend, Stephanie. We went to the “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios in Hollywood and re-watched several of the movies.

We had a blast!

I am a total Harry Potter fan.

I’m fascinated by this story.

In front of Hogwarts.

Happiness and silliness in front of the Hogwarts Express.

At Hogsmeade. Yes, I ate lots of candies and drank butterbeer!

As I was chatting with a friend about how JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, is such a great example of someone who followed her calling despite financial hardshipmy friend asked:

What if JK Rowling did not follow her calling to write Harry Potter?

…What if she resisted writing it and let her fears take over?
…What would the world be like?

Imagine a world without Harry Potter…  or without your favorite hero/heroine or book if you are not into Harry Potter.

Think about the books or stories that truly made a difference in your life and imagine your life without these books or movies.

How would that be like?

Really ponder that for a moment.

  • a world without the inspiration that changed your life for the better.
  • a world without the stories and characters you cherish.

It sounds pretty sad, doesn’t it?

Well, this is what is going to happen if you don’t go for your own career dreams.

Yep. Exactly.

Have you ever thought about that?

Have you ever thought about what the world and people around you are missing out when you hold back on your dreams and callings?

Really ponder that for a minute.

This is not just about you.

This is about the world and the difference you are here to make.

The world is missing out when you hold back on your dreams.

JK Rowling, through Harry Potter, touched millions of lives worldwide.

The idea of Harry Potter came to her while sitting on a delayed train from Manchester to London. She had this surge of inspiration and she conceived the story in her mind for the next four hours.

She was so compelled by the story that she wrote the first book despite being single mother on welfare and all the internal and external voices telling her she would never make money writing children books and she should find a more “practical” job.

She had no idea the book would become such a success. She wrote it because she was called to do it and she followed her calling.

Imagine.. if she did not follow her inspiration?
and gave away to fears, or so-called “practicality.”

Imagine a world without her talents being expressed?

How sad that would be.
How the world would be missing out.

So, here are my questions for you,

  • Are you holding back from going after your dreams and callings?
  • Are you letting the fears stop you?
  • What is the world missing out from you holding back?

Be honest with yourself.

I’m doing this work because I did not let the fears stopped me or hold me back.
I had fears, LOTS of them, and I still do at times.

But I did not let them stop me.

What would you do if you did not let the fears stop you?
What would the world benefit from your presence and gifts?

If you (or people you know) are truly committed to finding the answers to these questions, I have a few slots available right now in my coaching practice for a few selected people serious about investing in themselves, and who are a do-what-it-takes kind of people.

I am selective about the people I work with. I only work with people who have a do-what-it-takes mindset. If this is you:
